This group is for people of all ages (21+) who want to meet others to speak Italian together, share our knowledge and passion for this beautiful language, and the Italian culture.
Our group activities include: Italian conversation events, enjoying delicious meals together at various Italian restaurants in the Metro-west areas of Boston, and the North End, seeing Italian films, pot luck dinners at members homes, Italian book discussion groups, Italian car shows, Italian music concerts, Italian festivals, as well as other Italian related events.
The group meets 3 times per month to practice speaking Italian, both in Waltham and in Framingham.
Although Meetup lists the group in Wayland, our members are from many different Metro-west towns surrounding Boston, as well as Boston proper.
Member dues are $5 per year, which goes towards the $150 yearly fee that Meetup charges to organize a group on their site; as well as to pay for any facility rental fees, and other supplies if needed. Any overage in the Member Dues Account, will be used solely for the purpose of this meetup group. The $5 fee can be paid through the Meetup website.
As of April 14, 2014, the group changed to require this yearly $5 membership fee; which is actually less then what you'd pay for a glass of wine at a restaurant. This change, helped to create a smaller, more unified group of active members, who truly want to participate and contribute to the groups continued success.
If you were previously a member, but you were automatically removed from the group, due to this change, please feel free to rejoin and participate at our future events. :-)
* In order to be approved for membership, you need to have:
1) A photo of yourself posted as your main photo on your profile page
2) Your first name on your profile page.
This is very important, as it enables me, and the assistant organizers, to be able to recognize you at events, just as you can recognize us. Having your photo, and name, posted also helps the other members to become familiar with you, and to feel more comfortable when meeting you.
* Over the past 7 years, we have formed a wonderful group of Italophiles, and everyone is very welcoming and supportive. In many ways it feels like we have formed our own "Famiglia Italiana". I am looking forward to many more years of enjoying Italian conversation and Italian culture with our current, and future, members
