Where do you have to grow food: City Lot? Small Acreage? Farm Land? You can establish a food forest on any of those sites. Geoff Lawton will show you how to do this while working as little as possible--which is always the Permaculture way.
On an 80-minute DVD, Permaculturist Geoff Lawton starts with the basic concept of a forest, then takes us from planning, timing, and day one through year seven. Lawton uses the functions, mechanics, and engineering of ecology to teach you how to plan and execute your own forest—one which provides food twelve months a year—with the minimum effort from start to maintenance that makes Permaculture famous. After the DVD we have 30 minutes extra time for the food forest discussion led by Seth Hamby, Permaculture Certificate Holder.
Americans, including most of our farmers, work hard at mowing, weeding, plowing, and spraying to hold back Succession. Nature never does that. We mimic and speed up nature to grow a food forest. In fact, the food forest exists because of Succession which is the progressive change of one ecosystem or habitat type to another by natural processes. These processes transform bare or abused soil back to a forest.
