Laughing Hearts Living Community is looking for a warm, queer or queer-friendly man to join our newly-formed household on 61st St. in North Oakland. We recently purchased a newly remodeled duplex with a cozy back-yard full of lush bushes & trees. Late fall or early winter is our timeline for having our new, male housemate move in.
Our block has welcomed us very warmly, and we're excited about sharing activities with our very ethnically diverse group of neighbors. The Dover St. neighborhood has the feel of a small village, features two parks, and numerous community-building initiatives ranging from edible park gardens, restorative justice working groups and arts programming.
Our Saturday September 6th meeting & pot-luck will offer community-seeking men a fun way to get to know Amos, Mona & Annie, our current members. We'll do some laughter yoga, gentle movement and ice-breakers as a way to connect with each other, and talk about our community. A pot-luck lunch will follow the meeting.
If you'd like to attend our event, please RSVP then answer the survey questions linked to the event posting.
Our Community cooks & eats meals together two or three times a week, shares house chores, garden upkeep, and meditation. We support each other in our professional & personal lives.
We're committed to environmental & food justice and are involved in the innovative Dover St. Park Garden Program just 4 blocks form our house.
Our new male community-mate will rent for at least the first year, and may have the opportunity to become an equity partner over time. Range of rent is $650-$1,000/month, plus utilities & shared food. We're happy to negotiate rent based on the amount of time & energy our new housemate can contribute to our community.
A newly created 8' X 15' downstairs bedroom awaits our fourth community-mate. It has a view of fig and apple trees, comes with its own bathroom, as well as a nearby galley kitchen. There are two living rooms and an upstairs kitchen to share as well.
We're looking for a warm, queer-friendly or queer man who likes to give & receive hugs. A sense of humor & commitment to diversity would be helpful too!
Timeline for Moving In would be late fall or early winter. We'd like to get to know you over the course of several months before we'd invite you to join our community. Perhaps we could make & share a few meals together as a way to get to know each other's cooking styles, talk about our interests etc...
