Phoenix Commons Senior Cohousing Preview (Alameda)

Chris Zimmerman, who runs EBCOHO Supporting Group member Elders Village, creating Oakland's first Senior Cohousing neighborhood, Phoenix Commons (right on the water at the Park Street bridge to Alameda) has invited EBCOHO members to a preview next Wednesday of their outreach for the coming year. The project has made it through almost all layers of approval and is nearly ready to start outreach/recruitment. We trained Chris's Alameda Elder staff in the Aging-in-Community "Study Group" Successful Aging curriculum that Chuck Durrett brought over from Denmark, and it's great to see it put into action.

Hello,

I’m writing to invite you to a special gathering of the early supporters of Phoenix Commons which will be on Wednesday, December 5th.

We really appreciate your interest and support for our senior co-housing project and want you to be the first to hear about the latest updates.  And—you’ll get a sneak peek at the proposed community design and floor plans.  You’ll also be able to meet the members of the development team including Linda Herman, the project manager and Victoria Stone, our Community Development Director.  Linda and Victoria are looking forward to meeting you and hearing your thoughts and ideas about growing our cohousing community.

Hope to see you there!

SEE YOU SOON ,  Chris Zimmerman

I also think Phoenix Commons will be a great place. Friday I walked around the lot where it will be built, crossed the bridge and did some refresher exploring along Park Street.
Want the group to have a community gardening space.

Due to staff illness, we were not able to respond to all people on waiting list until now. We will be able to make room for people on waiting list. We will also try to respond directly as soon as possible. Specifically Cindy Turnquist, Marcia Rayene, Jayni Allsep, Marsha Silver, Mariko Hibbert, Robert Remington, Kathleen Lolloton, and Werner Rust - as well as guests they mentioned. We are adding seating to room. For easy location of event - we are in the same building as Elders Inn on Webster.
