From a variety of sources at Parker St, Fairview House, NCLT, etc.
Cohousing means to me an community of people who work together to create/sustain affordable housing for long-term security through mutual intentions, social interaction, & shared skills/resources. It implies a commitment to conscious dialogue, including conflict resolution, and individual and collective financial responsibility for mutual benefit.
I would do any of the above depending on my circumstances. I might be interested in co-creating a small, limited equity, co-housing artists community in the future.
I love North Oakland, but Berkeley/Eville/Alameda ok if the right fit. Ideally: close to BART, with outdoor space and a shared garden, as an artist I need some studio & storage space, ideally...would consider many different options. I have some pretty specific ideas of what I would ideally like, but depending on the circumstances I have flexibility.
I am a performing artist, personal trainer and Pilates instructor, and circus teacher. I have been learning about the range of co-ops, cohousing and intentional communities in the East Bay over the past few years.
