Octoberfest street party

The City of Sanford has a street party on the second Thursday of every month. In the summer it's too hot, but in the fall it's a fun event.

Since it's October, the theme is Octoberfest.

You pay $7 for a wrist band which allows you to sample a wide variety of foods. So you spend much of the evening wandering from table-to-table trying different samples. Alcohol is available to purchase.

The event starts at 5 pm and runs until roughly 9 pm. Some of the booths do run out of food quickly, especially the more popular ones.

If you wish you can meet us at the Historic Sanford Welcome Center at 6 pm, however it's not practical for anything of this type to do as a group. Different people are going to be more interested in different foods and activities and everybody will wander at their own pace. Certainly friends may decide to stay together for the evening.

Most of the art galleries stay open and they're fun to wander through.

Obviously this is an outdoors weather-dependent event.

Really great event. Might go to others in the future. Just a shame that I didn't get to meet any of the group at the event.

Sorry about that - but with a large (and crowded) outdoor event it often isn't practical to meet and go together as a group. Several of us did get together and we did wait at the Welcome Center until 6:30 pm.

Enjoyed going to the street party. Wasn't too far from home and wasn't expensive.

Didn't meet up with anyone from the group but I had a good time at this event. Good food and beer samplings, and even the tequila shots were good. Loved the German band that was in the square in the middle

Sorry you didn't run into us. We stayed at the Welcome Center until 6:30 pm and then started wandering and eventually ran into Lucy. With an event like this it's nice to meet other Eccentrics, but still enjoyable even if you're on your own.

Made new friends, sampled many local restaurants' food & brews, connected with artists & businesses, and got a wooden shot glass! It was a fantastic night!

I have to cancel. I sliced my thumb open and just got back from the ER; stitches. Feeling faint. Sorry

The weather forecast looks excellent for tonight - no chance of rain and reasonable temperatures.

For those meeting at the Historic Sanford Welcome Center I will be wearing a tie-dye T-shirt and jeans.

The actual name of the building is the Historic Sanford Welcome center and I adjusted the GPS pointer to that location.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
