While I appreciated the hostess bringing me some of their corn bread when I was about to collapse from low blood sugar, I just wish that they would use the recipe that Cracker Barrel uses. Like most kitchens, their recipe has too much sugar. But most importantly, a truly good recipe does't call for sugar or the addition of whole kernel corn. Also I found the use of cole slaw on their sandwiches disconcerting. It's not a hamburger at a fast food place, it's bar-b-que. No garnish is necessary, the dish can stand on its own. In addition, in the event I ever return I'll bring some Heinz ketchup. The serving I received of their house recipe was entirely too sour. It almost took the hide off the roof of my mouth and tongue.

Ok foodies as we get closer to the date and the number keeps growing for RSVP I would like to give everyone an option (you can decline). We will be occupying the private dining room and they have offered to give us a buffet of 3 meats and 2 sides for the price of $18 per person. You are free to order extra items but because its family style it might be uncomfortable for someone to order these large sizes. If you are interested in buffet style please like the status. If not then no big deal we can all order separately.

So, we just can't order a sandwich? We all have to decide on one dish & share?

    August 1

    • Mikilao

there are sandwiches but you will get big sides.

      August 1

  • Tiffany

Hmmm sounds interesting.maybe we should play musical chairs if the meals are as large as u say

    2 · August 1

  • Mikilao

Make sure you have a look at the menu. Everything is A la carte and made to share because it's Family Style BBQ. It's a little different, Menu is on Facebook.

I have worked on design and opening of many restaurants. The ownership here should have worked better with the health department, but these conditions are not unusual for an opening or just-opened restaurant. I have seen worse from quite elegant places..

    • Ernie

I should have clarified that my comment addressed the Flawlessfork site. The other site obviously addresses the continued work.

      July 31

  • Fred

Yelp has them at 4 * and Urbanspoon rating is 81%. Reviews are inconsistent as usual, even more so given its newness. Just to give some relativity 4 Rivers is at 91% and Tony Romas is only 73%. It should be an adventure. :-)

Tripadvisor only gave them 2 1/2 stars. Just saying.

  • Sandy

Bruce and Mikilao, thank you both for your comments on this place and providing all us with 2 good sites to check out all restaurants before we go. I think there are a couple more sites too. I guess it comes down to after reviewing a restaurants (any restraurant) inspection reports each of us must decide if we want to eat there or not.

    July 25

  • Rebecca

Agreed, Fred! Their menu looks AWESOME (every region of Q is covered) and there's several choices for vegetarians! I can't wait to try it. Thanks for putting this together, Mikilao! :)

    July 21

    • Mikilao

You're very welcome. The menu does change constantly but I'm hoping they get Memphis style soon.

      1 · July 21

  • Fred

So this place will have been open for a month and a half when we go. They should be finished ironing out the wrinkles and keen to make a good impression to new customers. I'm expecting some yummy food. :-)

    July 21

    • Mikilao

How many restaurants try out recipes and play with equipment months before are open. You don't need to get a permit to just experiment in a kitchen. They passed their inspection once they actually were open. I have been a chef in many restaurants so it does happen and eaten here 3 times with no issue. That building was left in shambles after the previous owner abandoned it half of that equip was replaced. So are you saying the other report is completely null and void because you read the other one? I'm not a spokeswoman but I don't appreciate the little stab.

      1 · July 17

    • Bruce

      You reap what you sow.

      July 18

  • Fred

Miki, the concern is with what is happening in the kitchen behind the scenes. That's where these reports are from the health inspectors. Something, the general public doesn't normally see but now we have more access through public media.

    July 17

  • Mikilao

How about something recent from when they were actually open to the public.

What exactly is the status of this venue? Has the Health Inspector given them clean bill?

So, is this place going to make me sick?????
