Nature Walk in Fullersburg Woods

Let's hike at Fullersburg Woods!

This place is really lovely and we went to this forest preserve twice last year.

It's a relatively short hike (between 2 and 3 miles) and we will be going in a relaxed manner to enjoy the surroundings. However, we may take some additional small routes if we are still in a mood.

The walk will be a perfect place to connect with nature, as well as to socialize, discuss "green" topics, and make new like-minded friends!

This event is a joint event with Chicago Hiking, Outdoors, and Social Group so expect more good people join us for the hike!

Direction: Turn to the main entrance to the park from Spring Rd. Park your car on the parking lot by the Visitor Center. We will be gathering right behind the Visitor Center by the river. The picture above is showing where exactly we will be meeting.

Special notice: This is an outside event that subject to a weather conditions. An message will be posted on the event page if it will be canceled, otherwise we will be meeting as it planned. Please check your email or the event page, if doubt, before arriving.

Also, some of us will come earlier for Sunday Morning Tai-Chi Practice. Here is more info:

Please use "Comments" area in the bottom of the event page to offer/ask for rides and post any general questions or comments.

The farm field that I spoke about in emblematic of the GMO Seeds & Herbicides poising our food supply. I can understand limited use of "round up" and similar products. Unfortunately no one is looking ahead to see the train wreck coming at us.

Hi there, is anyone driving out there from north side Chicago? I'd love to join, but don't have a ride. I'm in Lakeview East, but can travel to me somewhere within the city to catch a lift. Thanks!

I was driving through North Aurora today and was horrified by what I saw in a 200 acre farm field. Soy beans planted in a field of weeds saturated with ROUND UP. Yes just a few weeks ago this field was growing green with weeds 30" high. Because of all the rain, this farmer did not "Disk his field" (this is the age old process of field cultivation). Instead he sprayed his field with this herbicide , Round Up. Then planted the soy beans. You can see the little rows of beans growing next to the dead 30" tall weeds.
THIS IS OUR FOOD , PEOPLE . Little green soy beans 4" high growing next to the DEAD BROWN OVERGROWTH of weed killed with a herbicide. This is GMO poisoning on a commercial scale. This crop has no business being mixed with other farmers who care about the food we eat. This may be legal BUT it is bull shit and must be stopped. This field and other like it are unfit for consumption for both man and beast. Would some body like to picket this field Sunday July 28th.
