Selling Online Internationally - Some Useful Tips

Our first event of 2014 will focus on Selling Online Internationally and Susanne Dirks will be presenting some useful tips to attendees.

Susanne is an experienced international manager and management consultant with more than 15 years experience in management, business set-up/development/improvement, and consulting across Europe with special focus on the German-speaking markets.

She has an extensive background and knowledge in ICT (incl. information technology, artificial intelligence, data mining, web technologies, internet marketing, SEO) as well as language translation and localisation and has been invited to speak at events organised by Enterprise Ireland in the past.

Our second speaker on the night is Janet Suarez.

Janet is the co-owner of LocPeople, a language service provider focused on SMEs and Start-Ups. She has nearly 7 years' experience in the localisation & translation industry. Her background includes: financial, engineering, internationalization and globalization.

Janet's talk will focus around how you can reach more customers by speaking their language.

Once again Wayra have kindly offered us their venue for this event and a second speaker will be announced for the event in the coming days.

There is a course about selling through Ebay, Amazon and Etsy ran by Dave Moriarty AKA (Ireland's Ebay Doctor) this coming Friday in Dublin's Radison Airport Hotel. A fellow Kerryman, I know Dave personally for a number of years and he has a proven track record when it comes to selling on multi-channel platforms. He truly has been there and worn the jersey ( A Kerry one, a story in itself!)
Well worth enquiring further about the course for those of you available to attend next Friday. More info at
We hope to have Dave speak at one of the E-Commerce Ireland events later in the year.

This was my first Meet Up and I found it really interesting. Susanne and Janet did a great job!
I'm more than happy to field any queries on accepting local payment methods that Susan talked about. I can also give an insight into some of the costs associated with taking cross border card payments. Feel free to get in touch. [masked]
    See you all soon.

Sorry I couldn't make it last night, I understand from my colleague Rahil that it was very informative. Thanks for sharing the slides Susanne. For those interested in finding out more about Magento and meeting developers and merchants already using the platform I'm running our 2nd Magento Ireland Meetup next Tuesday 11th of February in the Baggot Inn starting at 7pm. You can join the group and RSVP for the event here: Hope to see some of you next week and if not at the next E-commerce Meet up in March

Thanks to the two speakers tonight Susanne and Janet for their excellent presentations. It was obvious that a lot of prep work when in to both! Hopefully we will be able to share these presentations with you in the coming days.
Thanks also of course to Wayra and John Larkin of Propelad for providing the excellent venue. The next event will be back in the National College of Ireland on the first Monday in March. Details will be announced here in the next few days.
Sorry some of you couldn't make it but given the weather conditions earlier in the day I was expecting a few of you to have other priorities so no trouble at all on late cancellations. Also sorry to here that some of you made valliant efforts to make it but technology let you down! Hopefully you can all make the March event in any case.

Hi all, apologies I couldn't make it tonight, I got off the dart at Tara Street and my GPS directions told me to walk towards O'Connell street, when I finally figured out where I needed to go I thought it was too late to join you. Very disappointed, hopefully I will make the next event.

Apologies to all for not being able to find the meeting place in time, as i don't want to interrupt the meeting by arriving so late I will leave it be. . Never trust a GPS when you are in a hurry, lesson learnt. Enjoy your evening. Fergus.

    Hi Colm,

Sincere apologies for not being able to make it tonight. Frustrating to say the least considering my passion for this topic.

Unfortunately gonna have to miss this one Colm:-( sounds like it's going to be a great meetup (as always of course!) Maybe you might put up the presentations afterwards Colm? But there's nothing like actually being there in person of course!

Hi all, Just done an analysis of online sales for 2013 on with a county by county breakdown for Ireland and a breakdown of International transactions also. Might be of interest to some of you I thought.

Thanks Denis. Unfortuanately this kind of thing do take quite a bit of time to do though. Best doing it properly though than half-backsided (if you get me!)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
