The Impact of the Economic Crisis on Globalization

I thought we might want to have a post event discussion? However, if people would prefer a pre-event discussion, let me know.

Professor Jagdish Bhagwati and Zanny Minton Beddoes

The Economist goes from the page to the stage at this candid conversation about the current economic crisis and its effect on globalization. Leading the discussion will be Zanny Minton Beddoes, Global Economic Editor at The Economist and Professor Jagdish Bhagwati of Columbia University, who will offer their insights on the international financial situation and take questions from the audience.

Brief Biography
Jagdish Bhagwati is University Professor at Columbia University and Senior Fellow in International Economics at the Council on Foreign Relations. He has been Economic Policy Adviser to Arthur Dunkel, Director General of GATT [masked]), Special Adviser to the UN on Globalization and External Adviser to the WTO. Five volumes of his scientific writings and two of his public policy essays have been published by MIT press. Professor Bhagwati's latest book In Defense of Globalization was published by Oxford University Press in 2004 to worldwide acclaim.

Zanny Minton Beddoes is The Economist's Economics editor. She is responsible for coverage of the American economy, economic policy and issues surrounding globalization and has written surveys of the World Economy, Latin American finance, global finance and Central Asia. She has published in Foreign Affairs and Foreign Policy and has testified before Congress on the introduction of the Euro. Beddoes is a regular commentator on Marketplace and other public radio programs, as well as CNN, the BBC World Service, MacNeil-Lehrer Newshour, CNBC and Public Interest.
