trip info

We will gather at the church's parking lot and work out car pool logistics.  Extra vehicles will be parked at the side streets.  The convoy will drive to Whistler (Wedgemount Lake is about 12 km north of Whistler Village.)  It will probably take 2.25 hours to travel from church to trailhead.

trail info

• round trip distance: 14 km

• high point: 1910 m.

• elevation gain: 1200 m.

• net hiking time: 7.5 hours

• rating: strenuous

• pace: moderate/steady

• challenge: steep climb; negotiate through roots; some scrambling up a scree slope just before arrival to the lake

gear needed

• footwear: sturdy hiking boots

• food and lots of water (will take a short lunch break at the lake + lots of mini snack breaks to refuel our bodies)

• sun protection: sun hat, sun glasses, sun block, lip balm

• bug protection: head net, bug spray, after bite (FYI, I will bring my bug jacket)

• clothing: wind breaker (extremely windy at the lake; back up layer)

• headlamp/flashlight (just in case)

additional info

• estimate team size: 4 - 8 members

• If you are able to drive and take passengers, please post a comment

• consult with individual drivers about car pool gas money

• we will have dinner either at Whistler or Squamish after the hike (refueling our bodies is important)

Great hike! The trail was a nice walk through the forest. The mist and clouds at the glacier and lake added a great dimension and visual effect.

What a great trail! I loved the feeling of hiking in the middle of the clouds and see them rolling on the slopes.

Did you not receive the email that I sent to all attendees about logistics. You are in car-2 (Amir is the driver) departing from the church.

Herbert, it looks like rain for the weekend. Are we still going?

    August 12, 2013

    • Herbert

It is still a go; specific local weather can change at any time, especially in the back country. We'd just have to be prepared for it.

Hi Herbert, thanks for adding me :-) I will be looking for a carpool to join :-)

You should first RSVP to join a meetup; once you are off the waiting list, then you can worry about getting a ride. This is a major hike. Unless and until I learn of your hiking experience, you are not hiking with us.

Herbert, Thanks for sending me message. I have been hiked a lot of places, such as Garibaldi Lake, unnecessary mount and Grouse Grind since the end of March with another meetup group. I was supposed to go on Wedgemount Lake today but I can not make it. I would like to go on the hike if I am off the waiting list and can get a ride from downtown.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
