Lets head to Sloquet Hotsprings this weekend November 9-11

Here's the deal - We are going to clean up the pools at this beautiful outdoor hotsprings near the north end of Harrison Lake. Basically what we have to do is drain one on the pools and shovel sand out to make it deeper. Other pools will remain intact so we will have plenty of time to soak is these completely natural outdoor hot pools on the shoreline of the Sloquet River. Prior to starting work we all need to take a spiritual purification bath with Juniper. We will be housed by the Xa'xtsa Nation in the nearby community of Tipella. Its a 15 minute walk from the parking area at the hot springs down a steep hill to the hot pools. All we need to bring is our muscles (yes its hard work) and food and $25 for fuel. We will each have our own bed (no need to bring sleeping bags nor pillows) and there is a full kitchen, running water and everything. I have done this before and it is "CHOICE". Very nice accommodations for free! It takes 5 hours to drive there and we still need some extra vehicles. We will work 4 hours Saturday and 4 hours Sunday. We will meet at the Safeway at broadway and commercial under the covered area at the bike racks. We can stop and buy food for group cooking on the way in Pemberton. Bring clothes that you don't mind getting dirty. Dress warm and bring rain gear....it could be cold and even a bit of snow. Weather will be similar to Pemberton though a bit warmer. we may need more high clearance vehicles

Had a great time restoring the main soaking pool at Sloquet Hotsprings. Was nice to meet so many new people who worked so hard to achieve the goal, despite aching bodies were always cheerful and a pleasure to work with. Thanks Andy and Sonja for organising and leading the event.

Thanks Mark. My muscles are still a bit sore from a training session this week. I'm hoping I will have recovered enough by the morning to come with everyone, but otherwise would not be of huge use in the pools!

This sounds like such a cool trip, such a shame I have to work tomorrow.

I'm currently signed up for another trip that is dependent upon ideal weather conditions. I'll know tomorrow morning if it is a go. If not I'd like to come and help with the clean up. I have a 2WD Ford F150 and room for 3 more passengers leaving from Richmond.

Hi Mark, I could get to Richmond (and bring others from Kitsilano if need be) if there is somewhere for me to park my car. I have a friend who may be interested in coming also. I like the idea of getting an earlier start to have time for 4 hours work on Saturday. Are you thinking we'll go from Richmond to Commercial and Broadway or go straight to Pemberton?

Hi Janet, It is probably easier for us to meet at Safeway (Commercial & Broadway) with the others for 9am. Grace you are welcome to join us as well.

I drive a mini so I'll need a ride with someone. So excited! I've always wanted to go to these hotsprings and what could be better than to help keep them beautiful.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
