Slesse Memorial hike

Slesse memorial is located off Chilliwack Lake Road.  We will drive to the trailhead which is accessible by 4 x 4 only.  Our first objective is the memorial site; the second objective is the propeller cairn (as shown in photo above).

gear needed

• footwear: hiking boots, gaiters, micro-spikes or crampons

• clothing: shell jacket, hat, additional layer

• sun protection: sun block, lip balm, sun glasses, hat

• bug protection: head net, bug spray, after bite

• trekking poles (if you are used to using them)

• wildlife protection: bear spray (if you already have it)

• food and water

• headlamp

• rough resource road to trailhead

• river crossing (depends on log bridge condition)

• over grown trail at base adjacent to river level

• bear in the area

• snow on trail at higher elevation (above memorial site); perhaps

• route finding

• aggressive bugs in the area

• team size 4 - 5 (unless additional high clearance 4 x 4 vehicle is available)

• please consult with driver about car pool gas money

• if log bridge is not passable, we will hike another trail in the area (eg. Ford Mtn.)

• space is very limited, don't be disappointed if you are not chosen from waiting lists
