Mid week walk at Cramond

(Being posted on behalf of Ian Cameron)

Come and Join me for a midweek dose of sea air.

We will meetup in front of the cramond Inn at 11:30.

For those getting there by bus the lothian buses number 41 is the best bus
to get to the start point, it leaves Melville street at 10.44 and arrives at
cramond for 11.14 and then it is a short walk along Cramond Glebe Rd just
before the bus stop down to the crammond inn.

If the tide is in our favour then we can make a short side trip out to
cramond island and wander round having a look at the remains of the WWII
fortifications.

If the tide is against us then we will amble along the promenade (or beach
if we so desire) to gypsy brae recreation ground then we will walk down the
hill to the sea front and return along the promenade to cramond harbour for
some liquid refreshment at the cramond inn or the falls cafe.

For those who like to know where they will be going click on the link below for a googlr map from the practice walk from today[masked]).

If required there are toilets at the start and end of the walk and also
available at gypsy brae in the morrisons supermarket at the other side of
forth quarter park.

If you want to bring your four legged friends along feel free, however to
make sure that everyone enjoys the walk they should be kept under control at all times. As long leads are a trip hazard for all they should not be used.

Was great to go around Cramond Island (for the first time my case). Very relaxed and interesting walk.

Thanks for organising this walk Ian. I enjoyed it. Went a bit wrong trying to find Pennywell Road though. I turned left instead of right when I got to the main road. But I got there in the end! Next time i will bring a waterproof jacket - even if the sun is shining.

Hi Ian - I didn't go too far to the left before I headed south. But I had to go all the way to Ferry Road before I could turn right! I went about 3 sides of a square. My own fault. And it gave me that extra 40 minutes walk I suppose.

Me & Toby had a fantastic time today. I'm so glad we managed to walk around Cramond Island - that was really interesting. The weather wasn't too bad. We only experienced a couple of downpours. It was nice to stop for a break at Gypsy Brae. We had a lovely group of people today & Toby had Bronty (Yorkie) to keep him company. This is one of my favourite walks! Ian did a brilliant job as group leader - he's a natural. I highly recommend Ian as a new Assistant Organiser for the group :-))

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
