LINEAR WALK - South Queensferry To Cramond through Dalmeny Estate

A charming and peaceful walk from the Forth Rail Bridge in the historic village of South Queensferry through the Dalmeny Estate to the outflow of the River Almond down into Cramond.

Exact distance 8 miles
Linear walk
Time 3 1/2 - 4 - including short breaks Dogs welcome and there are plenty off lead parts in this walk but owners must take respondibility for their dogs and keep them under control - please be considerate of your fellow walkers :-)

As we pass over via Cramond Brigg if people do not wish to walk the whole distance to Cramond this could be your drop out point (6 mile point) as a short 5 min walk will take you up to the Barnton Junction where you can catch buses back into town or back to South Queensferry - we will continue the walk down to Cramond Via river almond path ending with a wee well deserved drink in the Cramond Inn before catching the bus home.

Have also been looking up some facts re the walk and interesting stop points that are recommended ie the dog that haunts a bit of the walk - and other wee bits lol. Anyone interested am happy to share some of them on the day :-)

By signing up for this walk you are doing so at your own risk and are responsible for your own health and safety ( have not lost anyone yet or had any mishaps LOL and hope to keep a clean slate LOL) - neither myself or the group as a whole take any responsibility for any mishap / misadventures whilst on the walk :-)

For anyone unsure - please say to the Driver you are going to the Hawes Inn there is a bus stop right opposite and barring the bridges themselves the Hawes Inn is the most famous Landmark in South Queensferry - as well as being immortalised in print by Robert a Lewis Stevenson in his book kidnapped

    March 23, 2014

    • Ahmed

I checked First's website yesterday. They have a bit complicated fare system. What I understood is that it is either £3.50 or £4.70.

  • Carolanne

Just bumping - please change RSVP if you are no longer coming as as soon as you know as I don't want to have to flag people as "No Shows" Please also note that we will be setting off on the walk sharp as we are a big group :-)

    March 21, 2014

  • Carolanne

Can I please ask attendees to change their RSVP ' S if they can no longer attend the walk please - it would be greatly appreciated is ted as the group is large and don't want to hang a out for those who are not attending - many thanks

  • Mel

Oh thanks so much Carolanne. Yeah ive got a place. Guess it must be just sooooo much busier than last year??

    March 18, 2014

    • Carolanne

It is - every walk is filling up so quickly LOL think it might be a case of posting walks up twice like Ian did with his 7 Hills one :-)

      March 18, 2014

  • Mel

Wow have tred rsvping for 3 different spots and every time not made it even though I was 3rd on the wait list. This has never happened to me before.

    March 18, 2014

    • Carolanne

Doing it without the automatic wait list means people consciously have to sign up and therefore are less likely to pull out at the last minute etc as they have actively tried to get on the walk so it's hopefully a win win in the end :-)

      March 18, 2014

    • Carolanne

Oh so after that novel LOL you are now on the attendance list LOL sorry about that

      March 18, 2014

  • Mel

Hi I'm trying to RSVP yes to a spot that's opened but it won't let me? Also not letting me post on site?

    March 17, 2014

    • Carolanne

Mel your message has registered on the site - someone bet you too the the spot it looks like as the walk is showing as full and you seem to be No 3 on the Waitllist as wanting a spot. Sorry

Buses from Cramond Back into town on Sundary 23rd March

No 41 LRT Services - 4.20pm, 4.50pm then there is not another bus until 5.20pm and 5.50 pm

Nb there is also the LRT No 19 which has limited stops and apparently runs on the Sunday although I have never seen it - it leaves at 4.20pm and 5.20pm but as I say I have never seen it but goes similar route to the 41 :-)

Hope this helps - give me a shout if you need anything.

Will post up my mobile nearer the time in case you need to contact me

Hi guys I've upped the mileage to 6 as just checked it - I hadn't allowed for the wee bit that takes us up the river to cross over to get to the other side so we end up in Cramond village sorry - hope that's ok for people the extra 1.5 miles
