Arthurs Seat Climb - The Hard Way!

  • Jul 16, 2011 · 1:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This walk is not for the faint-hearted because it does include a small section where care is required.

No climbing skills or equipment needed, but it is a very narrow path we climb with a drop down one side.  Walking boots with a good tred would be useful.

See the route on the photo. It's actually not so bad, I've done it often before, since I was a kid in fact!

If you are afraid of heights or you have a dog you can easily take a different route, half way up, before we do the dodgy bit - then we can all meet at the top.

What you get is a commanding view of the top of the crags from half way up the front face of Arthur's Seat.  You don't get this view elsewhere, the flat plain of the crags is so close to you on this route.

We'll start at Holyrood, head up the steps to the path below the crags, then climb Arthur's Seat.  Down the back to Duddingston and some liquid refreshment in The Sheep Heid.  Then back to Holyrood via Duddingston.

Can't guarantee there will be Pipers by the way!

We'll set off just after 1.00pm so please try to be on time. Here's my mobile number: 07951 291001.
