HSS-EG Pub Night - CHANGE OF VENUE - The Bellevue at the bottom of Broughton St.

We will be on the Mezzanine floor, directly opposite the bar, stairs in front of you at the back. The will supply us with Nibbles as well.

On the last Wednesday of every month, the Humanist Society of Scotland Edinburgh Group (HSS-EG) hosts purely social meetings/get-togethers usually at Mathers Bar East End, in Broughton Street. Come for a drink (alcoholic or not, nibbles are provided), and chat with fellow free-thinkers. The environment is both friendly and thought provoking, with an enormous diversity of opinions.

Everyone is welcome, not just group members, and there is no fee for attending. Because the HSS-EG is not based on the Meetup web site, there are often attendees who have not RSVP-ed here, sometimes as many as 2 or 3 times the number you see here. There is no requirement to book or RSVP in advance, so you can just show up (although it is of course nice to RSVP here). You will find us just up the stairs, sitting at the reserved tables and there should also be the HSS sign displayed.

In addition to the social pub night, you may also want to check out the other regular monthly meetings. On the first Monday of each month the HSS-EG hosts a meeting (at the Mecure Edinburgh Mount Royal Hotel (in between Marks and Spencer and Jenners) that usually includes a talk/lecture, presentation, debate, or discussion. See the other events for details on this.

I thought last night was really good. Quite a few new people along with regulars, and as usual everyone got along and had something to say. I was really pleased that when we asked that the music was turned off where we were sitting, this was done. There were plenty of seats and it was easy to move around. I'll take a look at Mathers when I can, and see what alterations they have made. The only obvious downside to the Bellevue is the number of steps to the area reserved for us. Anybody have any more thoughts???

Unfortunately my Festival visitors did not arrive in time for me to attend. Hope you all had a good evening at the new venue x

I'll try and stick my head in the door if my 'flyering' schedule allows, but can't guarantee it so have changed my r.s.v.p.

Sorry, date clashes with a group that I run tonight... might be able to join you very late but probably not.

I will try my best to attend on Wednesday but I have someone arriving to stay for the duration of the Festival and uncertain at the moment what time they will arrive. I don't want them arriving to an empty house, so if they are early enough I will definitely be there. If not, I will need to make the next meeting :-(

If they arrive early bring them with you. If not, then next month is fine, but please have a look at what Edinburgh Skeptics have to offer during the Fringe. I'm at everyone of their talks, and can't wait.

Please note the change in venue for this month. This has only happened once before, and we changed to Mathers and stayed. Not sure that this will happen here, but change is good.

Hi Ruth, Kev and Margaret, I'll look out for all of you and introduce you to the regulars. I do suggest that you come along as early as you can to make sure you get a seat, and also it's easier to speak to a lot of people and find out what we share in common. Everything is very informal and we tend not to have a topic. Just get yourself a drink, you'll see a sign on the first table up the stairs and me.

I'm hoping to get to my first meet up too- that means there'll be 3 new folks- all wet behind the ears! - can only speak for myself ....
Looking forward to meeting you all. Ruth

Not a problem, I usually do look out if I know that new people are coming. And you have nothing to feel nervous about, we welcome everyone.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
