For Sunday 23rd February, we had previously planned to do some painting for the fantastic Broomhouse Centre, but they decided they wanted even more for us to come do some work in their garden -- so we'll be helping do a clean-up, weeding, and general spring tidy from 12:00pm-3:00pm.
We'll bring a limited amount of equipment, including bin bags and litter grabbers, and the Centre has a few trowels, etc. but it would be useful if volunteers could bring any gardening equipment of their own, including gloves (for adults/children), trowels, clippers/garden shears, rakes, etc.
As usual, if everyone brings an item of food or drink to share, we should be able to make a nice lunch of it as well. :)
The garden is used as a sensory garden by members of the Beacon Club, for older people who suffer from dementia. The Broomhouse Centre does so much for a variety of different groups; it's really inspiring. Volunteer work here might be something we could do on a recurring basis if we'd like. Hope to see you there!
p.s. Below are some pictures of the space for those interested. Apparently the garden has accumulated some rubbish since these were taken in late autumn, and is in need of some weeding, clearing, trimming, etc...
