French Language Exercise - Topic of Your Choice

PLEASE READ THE MEETUP DESCRIPTION BEFORE YOU RSVP YES! Please do the required homework to make sure you are maximizing this opportunity to practice French.

The French Language Exercise: Scheduled every 2 weeks at same day/time.  This meetup will allow all participants to practice their written and spoken French. All attendees are required to do some homework and prepare something in French.

Homework: Please prepare a written note in French with a short introduction of yourself and a topic of your choice.  Pick any topic to share and generate some discussion.  Please try to time and practice reading your written work for a possible maximum speaking total time of 5 minutes.

Topic ideas/Suggestions: Here are some of the topics we have chosen in the past:  Travel Experience/Plan, Current News, Book/Film Review,  Favorite Food/Restaurant and Anything You Want To Share about Yourself and Family which is a great ice-breaker if this is your first French meetup.  Or you can pick any topic of your choice.

Purpose: learn new vocabulary relating to your chosen topic.  Share anything you feel like sharing with fellow members. Use the relevant verb tense you need to convey your topic.

Exercise: Read out your written work and others may ask questions to generate a French discussion.  Depending on the size of the group, each written work will be given a set number of minutes for discussion to allow for others to present their prepared notes.  If there is still time left at the end, members can partner with one another to do some private chat in French to discuss ask any other questions on their written work.

Language of the Meetup: This meetup will be mostly in French with some deviation in English to help with understanding if needed.

Because we are heading to a place of business, please be considerate to give them business as much as possible.

Location: Block 1912 at[masked] Avenue.

Time: 10:15am to 1145am.

RSVP:  Please be considerate.  If you say you are attending, please make the effort to do the homework and reserve this time to attend and participate for the benefit of yourself and others.  If you are not able to attend, please change your RSVP immediately.

Group Size:  This meetup has proven to be good when it is small around 8 people. If the attendance is around the 12 person mark, it is recommended to divide to two different tables and ensure that everyone gets a chance to practice their French.  Group size is set to a maximum of 16 participants for a possible of two-three groups.

Event host: If you wish to step up and be the host of this or upcoming meetups, please let me know and I can update the event host information.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
