Edmonton Science Fiction Appreciation Society Message Board › We've been asked to help with a cool research project!
I received the email pasted below and promised to forward it on to you guys. A researcher in the UK is doing video game research and needs our help filling out a quick questionnaire on the internet. See below for details, please forward it on to anyone you think would be interested.
Here's the email I received:
Have you heard about Game Transfer Phenomena (GTP)?
GTP is the transfer of video game experiences to the real world; like hearing, seeing or doing things in real life based on what the gamer heard, saw or did in the game.
I am currently doing a survey for my PhD project about GTP and I would appreciate if you could forward this message to members in your group. I hope you can help me. Females usually are not represented in research about gaming.
The survey takes approximately 10 min. Participants should play video games and be 18 years old or older.
In the survey you can read other players experiences and check if you have experienced GTP and what types.
In the first GTP study some players reported seeing text boxes above peoples’ heads, seeing images of video games when trying to sleep, wanted to use video games elements in real life or suddenly doing a behaviour or action as in the video games without intending to do so.
The purpose of my project is clarify players' phenomenological experiences through explaining why, when and how GTP occurs, in order to maximize the benefits of interactive media and contribute to different areas of the sciences.
You are welcome to visit my website join my Facebook group and check out my blog.
