The 21st Century Classroom

  • Dec 6, 2012 · 6:00 PM

(Keynote and Panel Discussion).

Hear from teachers, innovators, administrators, and policy experts about how technology has reinvented the American classroom. Teachers are no longer the gatekeepers of knowledge; rather they are facilitators of the learning process. Hear directly from the educators, administrators, and ed-tech entrepreneurs on the front lines.

Plus, bank on engaging in amazing discussions, forging new connections with the best and the brightest, and learning from people all over the ed-tech spectrum in our Nation's Captal!

Agenda:

6:00pm - 6:30pm - Registration

6:30pm - 6:35pm - Quick Introduction by Brandon Carroll of Always Prepped.

6:35pm - 7:00pm - Interview and Q&A with Leonard Medlock of EdSurge. A Silicon Valley-based Ed-Tech Reporters view of the industry. Interview conducted by Katarina Pasinsky, a 6th-grade English teacher in Prince George's County.

It was great to connect with so many like-minded folks and engage in stimulating convos around edtech!

I have been to several meet ups on different topics over the past few months and this was by far the most thought provoking for me.

Networking: I succeeded making my self-mandated minimum number of business contacts for the event. Pat on back. Blogging: Have stuff to write about!

SERENDIPITY: For the past 2 weeks an old goal of mine has resurfaced. Walking El Camino/The Way in Spain in May 2013. Last night I met someone who actually lived next to and worked on El Camino with the pilgrims. Great contact for preparing for the trip. Thanks for a great event with great speakers and good format.

Obviously, I need to do a better job proof reading my work. And after talking with teachers!

Let's make DC the Edtech capital! What is the key need here? Techlab for teachers? Networking/mentors between Edtech succesess and startups? Onramp to distribution with local schools?

Hi, I come from far, even if I get off work at 5, I still can't get there until 6:30, maybe. So should I just not come?
