Location: Tawayik Lake, staging area shelter.
Bird counts are a citizen science approach to monitor bird populations and diversity across the globe. The data will be added to the 114 year history of data already collected by the Audobon Society for Christmas Bird Counts. This data is used by Scientists to determine long term trends, understand species ecology and for conservation purposes. Get involved with real science in action by coming out and searching for common, and rarer winter bird species. We will meet at the Tawayik lake trail entrance in the shelter. Bring your binoculars, bird books and friends. All are welcome! We will have fresh baked chili, warming fires, coffee, bird recording data sheets, fun and laughter. :) Let out that inner scientist in you!
