Yellow Rail and Marsh Bird Monitoring

Once again, weather permitting, I will be heading out Friday evening to monitor some of the park's ponds and marsh areas for Yellow Rails and other wetland birds. Group members are welcome to join me.

The birds in question are active late in the evening or are nocturnal. We'll meet at the information centre parking lot just off highway 16 before traveling up the parkway to our survey locations. The monitoring itself will be performed by playing bird calls and listening for responses.

This event will not take place if the Environment Canada forecast for Elk Island indicates that it will be raining.
