Hopefully our new room at RMIT will be the norm through the end of 2012 and into 2013. After any presentations and discussion we expect to head just around the corner to Toto's Pizza House at 101 Lygon Street. (Not sure about January at this stage.)

Our agenda remains flexible but will continue to include:

  • encouraging wide ranging discussion of the emergence of organisation across the great domains: social, biological, physical and computational; and how that understanding might guide us to act in the world;
  • sharing updates on our projects: Kororoit Institute, Bill's TOMOK papers, Tony's cellular automata metaverse, Patrick's progress on open transport planning, Adam's Humanity+ and Singularity Summits, and our battles against academic/bureaucratic resistance.

If you aren't sure what we mean by emergence, the Wikipedia page is a good starting point.

    Good presentation on Massively Open Online Courseware and discussion afterwards ... certainly has given me food for thought in the area. I like the idea of such courses having the potential to rejuvenate technical/apprenticeship style education in particular.

    Looking forward to it. Hopefully 2 of my UniMelb PhD colleagues will make it down as well.
