Most of our presentations and discussions relate to aspects of complexity.
Formal presentations normally begin at 6.00 PM. Around 7:30 we move just around the corner to Toto's Pizza House at 101 Lygon Street for drinks and dinner.
Our agenda remains flexible but will continue to include:
- member or guest presentations on topics relating to emergence, and complex systems are invited. Systems we are interested in range from cellular automata, through biological and organizational, to communities, cities and other kinds of social systems.
- encouraging wide ranging discussion of the emergence of organisation across the great domains: social, biological, physical and computational; and how that understanding might guide us to act in the world;
- sharing updates on our projects: Kororoit Institute, Bill's papers on the emergence, roles and management of knowledge in organised systems, Tony's cellular automata metaverse, Patrick's progress on open transport planning, Adam's Humanity+ and Singularity Summits, and our battles against academic/bureaucratic resistance.
If you aren't sure what we mean by emergence, the Wikipedia page is a good starting point.
