Dear Enneagram Group -
We will move on to consider a new series on techniques for "embracing the shadow" within each of us. The Enneagram helps us on a conceptual level to identify what we might in everyday life prefer not to see in ourselves. Psychologists from Jung onward have told us that our tendency to react strongly to others may also be a symptom of "fragmented" aspects of ourselves, beyond our conscious awareness.
Among therapists and others, there are a variety of simple visualizing and communication techniques that are often used to speak to the shadow aspects of ourselves. Some exercises have also been popularized by integral philosopher Ken Wilber as a part of his "Integral Life Practice."
The purpose of this meetup will be to test interest in exploring some of these techniques in an interactive way over the next several months. We will plan mostly on informal conversation this time, to determine the kind of investigation we may collectively want to undertake.
Please RSVP if you would like to attend.
PS - PLEASE NOTE NEW MEETING LOCATION - We'll plan to go about 6.30 to about 8 in our new space and to continue informally elsewhere in the neighborhood.
