Sunset kayak and dinner at Georgetown watefront

The weather is getting warm and so is the water... it's time to start planning some more sunset kayak trips... The two we did last year were quite successful so hopefully this year will be just as fun.

Come out for a sunset kayak on the Georgetown waterfront followed by some light dinner and conversation.

Jack's boathouse is a nice little facility for renting single or tandem boats or you can bring your own and put in at their dock.  Parking is  limited in their lot to people renting boats but there is street parking nearby.  Lockers and port-a-poddies are available for changing clothes and doing what needs to be done.  They have a grill and pagoda for after paddle eats, or we can wander Georgetown for some chow.

Let's meet at 6:00 pm, with a "drop dead" time of 6:20.  That will allow a little leeway with respect to getting in and paid up for the boat rentals etc and hopefully have us on the water by 6:30.

Rentals have to be returned 30 minutes before closing, which is around 8 (it changes based upon sunset times).

The last couple of times we've done this have been about an hour to an hour and a half on the water.

Turns out I've got a groupon with 3 spots left that expires in a couple of days. Find me and you'll get an hour for free! Cheers and see you at Jack's this evening, Ansu

Hi! I'm hoping to make it out for kayaking tonight. And, FYI, Scoutmob still has a deal for 50% off Jack's Boathouse on their app: bit.ly/PjwoHo

Unfortunately, I need to once again be at work late and then take care of my kids who aren't up for kayaking in cooler weather. I hope those that have been to this before will be able to help out those that haven't. Maybe next summer I'll actually get out to more than one of these events.

To be clear, the event is not being cancelled, I just won't be able to make it. Work has been crazy and unpredictable this year.

Ok, I have never gotten in a kayak before, I forgot to ask how this is going to work? Is this for experienced people only or everybody?

Lexi, this is an easy kayak excursion that is great for beginners. You will have help getting into and out of the boat. We tend to only go a couple of miles so that no one gets too tired and we go at a nice leisurely pace. We occasionally break into smaller subgroups that travel at slightly different paces but always turn around together and there's never been an issue with "going too fast" as far as I'm aware.

I believe this will be the last feasible one of these for the season as by October it starts getting dark much earlier and the water is cooling off (along with the air temps) which makes the potential for getting wet much less appealing. As with previous iterations of this, though, if you're on the wait list go ahead and plan on showing up. We always have no-shows (this year it seems I'm the most guilty culprit) and even if we all show up it's fairly easy to split into smaller groups.
