Announcing a new Meetup for Happy Hour, Benefits, Outdoors, Networking!

What: Kayaking on the Potomac

When: April 4,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: We are going kayaking (weather permitting) from Fletcher's Boat House down to Georgetown and will meet at Fletcher's Boat House at 11:00. It is an easy six mile round trip with a stop for lunch in Georgetown. Flat water, no rapids good for beginners. I will be glad to give some basic instruction for those who have not been kayaking before.

From Va.

Take 66 East to Key Bridge. Cross the bridge and turn left onto Canal road (instead of right into Georgetown on M). Keep along the canal, pass Georgetown U., and after several miles you will see an old multi story house on the left and a small stone wall. Turn down the little road between the house and the wall into Fletchers parking area. Parking is free and there is usually plenty of it.

It is better not to take Chain Bridge because it is a very difficult U-turn.

From DC

Go to M Street in Georgetown and follow it past Key Bridge, it will turn into Canal Rd. Then follow directions above.

The rental shack is across the bridge over the canal. The boats cost $20 for a 2 seater all day. (split with someone else and it is $10).

Be sure to bring appropriate clothes, snacks if you want them, water, and sunblock. A plastic baggie is good to keep your car keys in. We will travel down the Potomac to the Waterfront in Georgetown, stop for a quick break and then kayak back.

Driving back home to Va. after kayaking stay in the middle lane near Key Bridge, the first right takes you to the Whitehurst Freeway, the second right takes you to the bridge.
