The Meetup group has just received a sponsorship from Peet's Coffee! We will be receiving some free coffee and a few mugs and I will setup an event where we can have a coffee tasting and and some give-a-ways. This is awesome for coffee lovers.
While I was on an extended business stay in San Francisco a friend turned me on to Peet's which is considered the Gourmet version of Starbucks. In fact, the owners of Peet's used to also own Starbucks and left to form Peet's because they wanted to keep a higher quality standard and did not want to go corporate.
If you really enjoy good coffee Peet's is crazy good. Their stores have dark wood floors and the feel is more of an upscale country club. The flavor of the coffee imparts that same feeling when you drink it.
Let me know if you have ideas on how to take advantage of our new bounty. <-- I have not received it yet but it should be here in the next couple of weeks.
Also, on the same note I need help to get more sponsorships and need some part time volunteers. I want to get a lot of perks, specials, etc. for this group but we need a small team of volunteers to make it happen. Send me a note if you are interested. <-- will only be about 1 or 2 hours a month if that, = web meetings and perhaps approach your favorite local establishment.
PS Kayaking and biking trips coming up. We have had too much rain recently.
Enjoy kayaking, biking, happy hours, and other events with like minded individuals in the DC Metro area. Members are only invited if they are easy going, no drama, no mean people. I also manage some charitable benefits and include them in the calendar if you like to 'party with a purpose'. Typically, these events are international, young professional happy hour types of events. I have always been an environmentalist and will add 'green' events into the mix. We are a fun, interesting group of people who get along well. (Think Cheers meets Friends combined with Sex in the City). For those who have attended, especially the happy hours you know how much personality there is in this group. I look forward to meeting you if we have not met already. I try to find inexpensive but fun events to attend. Please feel free to recommend an event, I am always open to feedback. This group is growing quickly and I am looking for 2 reliable volunteers to assist, one would manage the happy hours. Contact me if you are interested in managing some events. In the case of charitable events proceeds go to the 501(c)3 organization(s). I am looking into sponsors now to cover the cost of running the Meetup and to possibly give members freebies.
