Where's My Mojo? Rob Mathewson on the Highs & Lows of the Startup Roller Coaster

The Highs & Lows of the Startup Roller Coaster...

Geedra started 2011 in a position most early stage startups would kill for; over $300K of seed money in the bank (without any loss of founders' equity), a solution to an acknowledged problem in a trillion dollar industry, a top customer signed for 5 years and others lined up for trials with recognition and awards soon to follow. By the end of 2013, the money was gone and customer traction never materialized.

Rob Mathewson, Geedra's Founder, will take you along on the startup roller coaster as he recounts the successes and ultimate failure of Geedra. He promises a frank discussion the influences of the Seattle startup ecosystem along with an examination of the choices he made along the way.

Whether you're pondering your first venture or have been there before, this is a talk that you won't want to miss.

Register now for just $12 (or pay $20/door, the night of the event). Seating is limited.

Event includes food and beverages.

SCHEDULE (approximate times): Food/Drinks/Mingling (5:30pm-6pm), Speaker Presentation (6pm-7:30pm), Mingling (7:30pm-8pm)

EVENT SPEAKER:  Rob Mathewson

Rob is an entrepreneur with a talent for crystallizing concepts, delivering products and closing deals. Most recently he was the CEO of Geedra, a mobile photo solution for the construction industry. His past ventures included a wide range of products and services ranging photo-documentation service for commercial real estate developers, to On The Spot Games a social game producer that specialized in games designed for play in restaurants.

He is currently in the midst of a streak of over 3,757 consecutive days without a bad hair day.

An avid mentor himself, his own business inspirations come from problem solvers like Dean Kamen, innovative communicators like Seth Godin, fierce competitors like Felix Hernandez, entrepreneurial entertainers like Jack White and global gurus like Thomas Friedman. When he’s not creating innovations, his passions include riding his bike up big hills, cooking big meals for his family and enjoying a big red wine from time to time. He is an accomplished public speaker and is a past president of Emerald City Toastmasters. Rob holds a B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering from Boston University and a MBA from Seattle University.

I was informative and at the same time a bit depressing for me because I realize we are going down the same path. That is helpful knowing though.

This sounds like a great story. Can't wait to hear it. We often learn more from what doesn't work than from what does. It would be nice if a new prospective owner could really benefit from the mistakes others have made. If only there was a way to do that...
