Announcing a new Meetup for CarbonfreeDC: Climate Change, Clean Energy & Sustainability!

What: Urban Forestry 101: How Trees Help Us Beat the Heat
When: August 31,[masked]:30 PM
RSVP here: http://www.meetup.com/CarbonfreeDC/calendar/11028797/

Is the summer hot enough for you yet? If you're looking for a cool way to beat the heat, look no further than a tree. The District's urban forest holds the key to reducing the "urban heat island" effect, taking a bite out of global warming pollution and creating healthy, happier neighborhoods.

In this interactive CarbonfreeDC workshop, Casey Trees experts will introduce you to the District's urban forest, including tree ecology and identification. They'll also explain how you personally can restore and maintain the canopy -- while cutting your energy bills!

Featured Speakers:
*Sue Erhardt - Casey Trees, Director of Planning and Design
*Maisie Hughes - Casey Trees, Director of Education
*Carol Herwig - Casey Trees, Volunteer Coordinator

When you sign up, you'll get to submit questions that we'll use to tailor the workshop just for you, so RSVP today! A few weeks after the class, participants will also be invited to a fun tree walk.
