Climate Change Workshop for Young San Diegans

Learn. Organize. Act. Build A Social Movement to Demand Climate Justice.

Do you want to network with other young leaders, environmentalists & activists in San Diego?

Have you ever considered becoming an activist, but you don’t know where to start?

Do you feel moved to act on Climate Change?

Are you unsure about the specifics of Climate Change, but know enough to be concerned?


Join us for a one day workshop packed with education, practice, networking, and inspiration, geared toward equipping San Diego’s next generation of activists with the tools they need to make San Diego more climate friendly.

WHAT: Trainings, Activities, Speaker Panels, Discussions, & an optional happy hour afterward. Learn how to organize, communicate, engage others, and apply lessons from past movements. Network. Get inspired by local community leaders and organizers. Gain practical and analytical tools to act and lead.
WHEN: Saturday, August 16, 2014, 8:30 am- 5:45 pm
WHO: Those ages 15-35 are strongly encouraged to attend. Space is limited to 40 participants.
LOGISTICS: Registration/breakfast at 8:30am. Workshop ends 6pm, followed by optional happy hour.

Sessions will include:
Political Power, Social Movements & Activist Tactics
Communicating Climate
The Why, How, and Hope of Organizing
Get Uncomfortable! Climate Justice and the U.S.’s Lack of Urgency
Speaker Panel: Young, Inspiring Activists who have been there and are STILL doing it.
Setting Goals and Taking Action Locally
COST: $15 to cover food (breakfast, lunch, snacks & 1 happy hour drink provided) and materials. If $15 is too much for you to pay, we’ll ask you to contribute what you can. We want you to participate, regardless of your ability to pay!
APPLICATION PROCESS: Each participant must complete an application in order to attend. Your answers will help us make the workshop as useful as possible for everyone participating. Space is limited, so we encourage you to apply now. Once you complete the application we’ll confirm with you within a few days.
