Chumash Indian Medicine Field Trip April 4th at 9am

This will be a plant use hike into Dukemajian Park in the foothills of La Crescenta with Professor of Pharmacy, Dr. James Adams. and Indian Healer Cecilia Garcia.  

About 1-2 miles, 300 ft gain.

The Chumash people are California Native Americans that lived and continue to live throughout California. Cecilia Garcia is a Chumash healer who was educated by her grandparents who were all Chumash healers. Jim Adams is an Associate Professor of Pharmacy at the University of Southern California. Cecilia and Jim will present the safe medicinal uses of about a dozen California plants. The plants that will be discussed include white sage, black sage, mugwort, yerba santa, chia, California sagebrush, and California bay. Contact Wayne Fisher. Leaders: Bob Thompson, Silvia Darie.
