The founders of this group are UNHQ staff and affiliates who are interested in learning or teaching English.

Although we use this website to plan events and communicate with each other, we are NOT an online-only group. This group is for English learners and teachers who want to get together regularly. Therefore, lurkers are NOT welcome. For the safety of our members, we need to know who you are.

The goal of this group is to:

• foster friendships - both established and new;
  
• speak English in more informal settings; and
  
• discover more about the places and events in New York City.
  

• Be on time. If you are running late on your way to a meetup, be sure to call the host to let him/her know.
  
  
• Be prepared. If you are the host, have any/all information or materials ready. If you are an attendee, print a copy of the meetup info so that you are sure to find the place and be there on time.
  
  
• Be open-minded. As part of this group, you'll likely try new things and hear new ideas. Be ready to broaden your horizens.
  
  
• Contribute new ideas for meetups. We are sure you have some brilliant ideas. Be sure to send your suggestions to the organizer. *See 'How to Host a Meetup' page (link above) for more information.
  
  
• Be active. Attend meetups and contribute to our message board. Any member who is completely inactive for 60 days will be removed from the group.
  
  
• Speak English. You can't be in an 'English Club' and not speak English, right?
  
  
• Have fun! This is the easy part
