August Brunsman will speak on "Unstoppable Secular Students: Changing the Public Discourse on Religion." He will discuss the rise of the religiously unaffiliated "nones" in recent years and how organized secular youngsters are among the most engaged and creative activists in making a difference today.
August Brunsman has been the executive director of the Secular Student Alliance since 2001 and is a current member of the Humanist Society. Formerly, he has worked for the Institute for Humanist Studies, served as Secretary of the Board of the Humanist Community of Central Ohio, Secretary of the Board of the Secular Coalition for America and co-founded Students for Freethought at the Ohio State University. Following each Sunday platform is an opportunity for the speaker to answer brief questions from the audience.All the Sunday morning programs at the Ethical Humanist Society of Chicago are free and open to the public. A children's program runs concurrently.
