MARTHA HOLSTEIN: “Beyond Rational Control: Caring at the End of Life”

MARTHA HOLSTEIN is a lecturer on health-care ethics in the philosophy department of Loyola University. Holstein will discuss the limits of hospice, palliative care, and other models of planning for death. She will challenge the assumptions underlying end-of-life care and propose ways to improve what now exists while introducing alternative ways of thinking about it.
