The new place in Kent was mentioned by someone, I forgot the name. It's just across the Stow border on the left, across the street from an Enterprise Car Rental place. 2 or 3 traffic lights past the Acme grocery store in Stow.

I agree with Debbie, let's shoot for somewhere centrally located. Kent would be a long drive for me

    Kim,
I know Mike well and I did think of his location. I do not know if the location would suit the majority of the euchre players. Pam will be able to sort everything out.

Panera's is a good choice which is a central location. Not sure how many people would drive to Kent. Hopefully you can find a place soon. Keep up the good work.

I did check at Panera's and the room is used on a first come first serve reservation basis. We could have the room from 7 to 9. They close at 9. The first available date is in May. I will pass this info to Pam , since she is the organizer of the euchre meetup.

Just wanted to give you another option...I stopped at Longhitano's Eatery and Grill tonight....it is on the corner of Kent Road and West Main....corner of Stow/Kent. It is a nice clean place, they have a banquet room that they do not charge for and could accomodate us on Monday nights in the time slot that we have used. They have a limited banquet menu that they could offer us, 3 appetizer, 3 sandwiches and 3 entrees and drinks and could do separate checks. If you are interested in checking it out, the manager's name is Mike, he is the owner and there all days, most days. The person I talked to indicated that due to size gratuity woudl most likely be added to bills. Address is 1225 W. Main Street, Kent, Ohio and # is[masked]-6214. Hope this helps!!!

Eva: Just read your comment about O'Charleys. Only place I can think of in the Chapel HIll area would be Panera Bread.

Sad news! Hopefully, we can find another location soon, this is such a fun group! Trying to think of other places with rooms that we could use for no cost and have the food option. Panera???? I know that other meet up groups use for board games or there is a place in Kent that has great food called Mike's. Just a few thoughts! I hope we find something, I am so sad to hear this, missed the last few weeks and was looking forward to Monday coming up!!!

    IMPORTANT NEWS!!!
This coming Monday, April 15,2013, O'Charley's will no longer be able to accommodate our group. The busy season is here for large groups, and they have been turning them down in their efforts to accommodate us. We have had the room for 4 hours each time and during that time it is possible for O'Charley's to have 2 or more large groups of diners. In the interest of what is best for their business, the manager called today with that info. Please help in trying to find another location. Given suggestions, I will follow up in contacting any business and making arrangements. We can't give up euchre!?!?

    Thanks for the input Debbie,
I would like to try it out and see if it can be done. I have done this at other euchre events and it does work out. A few minutes between tables is not really too much of an inconvenience.

    April 10, 2013

    • Debbie

I totally agree, we should try it. It will be fun to play with more people and not have "lucky" and "reserved" chairs and tables. I look forward to it.

  • Eva

Thanks for the comments Lou. I agree that after 2 games at a table, if it is a short wait, that is a perfect time to just chat about anything and everything. I think we will try that for one Monday and see how it works for everyone.

    April 10, 2013

  • Louis Z.

Suggest we play only 2 games, then stop. Can't be that bad to wait a few minutes until another group is done.

Thanks for the support Rick. I am hoping no one is put off about the suggestion to change and meet new people. After all, that's what Meet Up is all about! I am the co-organizer under slight protest, but I have grown to enjoy it.

I agree with Rick. It is fun to change tables and meet more people. The only difficulty is everyone does not finish at the same time so at times it is hard to move, but we all have to be flexible and leave our comfort zones.

Great ideas, Eva, and I support you. However, there may be people who go there thinking they can play with certain people the whole night and switching might drive them away. It's worth a try, however, and the regulars will support you (and maybe some "irregulars" like me......).
You're a good leader. What was the name of that last person to lead the group???

Another fun night at O'Charley's! Just a gentle reminder that this is a MEET UP group, and while playing euchre, it is suggested that table partners switch, so that we will eventually have played with all members. We have no scheduled rotation as yet, but may change that at some point in time. Any thoughts or ideas from members are appreciated. We could possibly play 2 games at a table, switching positions once; then the winners could move on to the next table. Just throwing that out for consideration and discussion. Have a great week all!
