THRILL THE WORLD is an annual global attempt to break the world record for the Largest Simultaneous Thriller Dance while raising money for charity. . 'Thrill The World' was created by dancer Ines Markeljevic. In 2012, Eugene joined the 'Thrill The World' for the first time. We did several flash mobs and at invitation, have gathered for repeat performances of Thriller for special occasions. New dance and performance skills were learned, new friendships developed, and many “bucket lists” were checked at the pleasure of learning and performing this famous dance. In 2012 we had 113 dancers; in 2013 we had 213, in 2014 we had 203 dancers.
We welcome all ages and abilities. No dance experience is required, only a willingness to practice and have fun. In addition to our big dance event on October 25th, you can anticipate optional flashmobs prior to that date.
FUNDRAISING: Eugene's designated charitable organization is ShelterCare. They are a private, nonprofit human services agency that has served Eugene, Springfield and Lane County since 1970. They serve: families with children who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, adults diagnosed with psychiatric disabilities who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and low income adults with acquired brain injuries. Their webpage is: http://www.sheltercare.org/ . Donations made during our dance season go to this very worthwhile agency.
