Startup Weekend Breakdown

Gavin Gillas, local business development specialist and startup enthusiast, recently found himself on a Startup Weekend mission, of sorts.  After participating in a couple of SW events in other areas, he decided to bring it home, and host the first Eugene Startup Weekend this past October.  It was quite an undertaking, and also quite a success.

Along with asking Gavin to assist with some regional events, SW is taking Gavin to Brazil.  He is learning a lot about the SW mission, and has an inside view into what's next... as in SWNext.

Gavin would like to share his experiences with the community, talk about what he learned, and discuss what it would take to have future Eugene events (read: your support).

Come participate in a discussion about the future of our Eugene web startup community, learn about some of the free and accessible resources that we have at our fingertips, and meet some of the people that are helping to bring our local tech community into focus.

Thanks for having me out and for all the great ideas from the group. If you want to help for the next Startup Weekend and we didn't get a chance to talk last night, please shoot me an email or catch me on LinkedIn and we'll get you on the team!

We had a great turnout and saw many new faces. Gavin was very engaging. I thought it was a very successful event.

Is this only for professionals or can someone like me, who is desperately seeking education in order to learn how to use woodpress (premium) themes? Also, does it cost? Feel free to respond her or, ideally, email me at: [masked]

This group is for anyone that wants to learn about startups and web technology, and it is free. You are welcome to join. I don't expect this particular event to cover Wordpress or CMS, but you may meet someone that could help you.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
