The Critique Group

Welcome to the Evanston Writers Workshop Critique Group.  One of two foundational programs of EWW, the Critique Group is a group of professional and aspiring writers who help each other polish their writing.  Through workshop-style critique, writers have the opportunity to receive direct feedback from attentive readers who understand the craft of writing.  For more information, as well as submission guidelines and requirements, please visit our "About Us" page, here.

Friendly reminder:  please have your submissions uploaded by the Friday (midnight) before the meeting.

I continue to be impressed by the amount of thought and constructive criticism that is applied to our pieces and voiced in the meetings.

I found the meeting well organized, the critical responses thoughtful, some insightful if at times coming out fast and seeming indigestible to some recipients, though, I suspect, when the critical documents are read alone they may be more useful. I enjoyed the seriousness of the critical responses and the fearlessness demonstrated by some critique givers. When "room-clearing" alarms periodically rattled-out of the group leaders cell phone no one jumped out of their skin leading me to think that those not at their first meeting, as I was, knew that he worked for an arm of the government told not to be caught napping ever again…or else.

Let me make this perfectly clear: I am not a government agent or employee.
