The Critique Group

Welcome to the Evanston Writers Workshop Critique Group.  One of two foundational programs of EWW, the Critique Group is a group of professional and aspiring writers who help each other polish their writing.  Through workshop-style critique, writers have the opportunity to receive direct feedback from attentive readers who understand the craft of writing.  For more information, as well as submission guidelines and requirements, please visit our "About Us" page, here.

Friendly reminder:  please have your submissions uploaded by the Friday (midnight) before the meeting.

I was surprised at the small number that actually showed up; went from ten at one point to five in person. I enjoyed talking to Doug Macdonald about poetry, and got a few good suggestions as to revisions of my two poems. Hope to see more attend in the future--

I apologize profusely, but I just now (17th, at about 12:30) got both of my poems reloaded (I think) according to the correct format requirements, so these are in final form. Substance is about the same as previously.

I presume, since Ross has not responded, that both my poems, The Visitation (re-worked) and The Eyes Have It, will be up for review, as I think they were mentioned at the last meeting as being set to be reviewed on the 17th, and since there are only 3 new manuscripts up for review anyway. I would appreciate any and all comments and honest reactions to these 2 poems, and don't be afraid to critique poetry--it is really not so "ivory tower" or lofty--just another form of expression, and besides, I am really not thin-skinned. See you there, if attending tomorrow night!

    Jill,
The formatting requirements are the first item listed under the "Pages" tab on the Meetup site. Please reformat in Cambria, Times new Roman, or Ariel 12 (TWELVE) point and replace your poems.

Ross had told me that I could have mine up for critique again since I was absent the last session (and I can most definitely make it to this Wed. session). I don't see any new files up though for this week's session however, which is odd...
