The Critique Group

Welcome to the Evanston Writers Workshop Critique Group.  One of two foundational programs of EWW, the Critique Group is a group of professional and aspiring writers who help each other polish their writing.  Through workshop-style critique, writers have the opportunity to receive direct feedback from attentive readers who understand the craft of writing.  For more information, as well as submission guidelines and requirements, please visit our "About Us" page, here.

Friendly reminder:  please have your submissions uploaded by the Friday (midnight) before the meeting.

I agree that side conversations are rude to the whole group.

I am glad I attended and appreciate all the meaningful commentary that came my way, but I think we need to be mindful of being sufficiently respectful of the person who is "up"doing the critiquing or speaking to their work being critiqued, and to limit side conversations. I'm not suggesting we be governed by Robert's rules of parlimentary procedure, just that we be basically courteous to all--perhaps I could become the courtesy curmudgeon? Doug, really did enjoy your story--

    Sophia,
Unless I'm having another senior moment, all should be explained in the e-mail I sent you. If you didn't get it, or have questions, feel free to e-mail me: [masked]

    Jill,
Since it's a poem and we are light, upload it.

    Ross,
Would it be possible on June 5th to also review my most recently submitted poem "The Eyes Have It", as when I last attended and it was "reviewed" there were no regulars, 2 complete newcomers, and 3 who had atttended just a few meetings in the past, so that I could get more commentary? Sounds like we will have plenty of time, and poems generally don't take as long to review as stories, anyway. Please let me know ASAP. Thanks.

    Aj,

You should receive an e-mail with that information shortly. You should have gotten it shortly after signing up, but there was a snafu in the software. Let me know if you don't get it.

This will be my first time meeting with this group. Is there anything I should know/bring?
