Hello fellow writers -
2012 is coming to a close and with it an exciting year at EWW. There have been many exciting changes this year. We’ve seen old friends depart and new friends have joined us. We have a new Board of Directors. Coleen Goodson has come aboard as Secretary and has been doing an outstanding job of running out plotting group. Ivette Camerano is our COO and I’m sure you will be hearing from her, with her marketing and organizational efforts.
We want to thank Ross Martinek for all his hard work in organizing the critique group and Mark Hudson for heroically stepping in to run the Prompt group.
This year saw a wonderful partnership between our organization and the Orrington Hotel. The conference we held there in August was an incredible event. We’re working hard to make sure next year’s is even more fantastic. We were also there for our holiday party. The food was amazing and the company even better!
We’ve had several members get published this year, including myself. This is a large part thanks to the efforts and encouragement of EWW. Since the group was founded to help writers achieve their goals, this is wonderful news and proof that we are doing our job.
Next year is shaping up to be even better. We are soon to launch a brand new website which will allow you to have a profile in our searchable database. You’ll be able to contact other members and let other members know what you’re working on. It will also manage memberships. You’ll be able to set up automatic renewals and reminders will go out when your subscription is due. No more guessing if your membership has expired, it will all be on the website. It will also integrate seamlessly with our events and let you pay for them right on the website.
Speaking of events. We will be picking up our monthly workshops again in January. You’ll soon be seeing the announcements. This summer we will be organizing month long series workshops so that you can go in-depth into different topics.
As our organization grows and our offerings become more numerous, we well be needing more help. We are seeking committee members in several areas. So if you have an interest in helping take Evanston Writers Workshop to the next level, please contact Ivette at [address removed].
The EWW team and I would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy 2013.
