CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

What gets you “Cooking” when you’re in a writing slump?

Evanston Writers Workshop (EWW) seeks your words of wisdom, anecdotes, stories, and recipes for inclusion in Now EWW’s Cooking! EWW’s first publication. This is a collection of our writers’ thoughts and recipes for nourishment of inspiration. The final compilation will be published and available for sale. All proceeds will benefit EWW—a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization. For now, that means we run the company on sweat, hope and pocket change. Here is your opportunity to help us in a substantial way and get yourself published in the bargain. This isn’t “vanity” publication, either: you are in essence donating the publication profits to the organization. To the, “Have you ever been published and paid for it?” question, your answer will henceforth be, “Yes,” (assuming it wasn’t, before now.) As any successful author can tell you, the more name exposure you get, the better.

Submissions should not exceed seven hundred (700) words. There is no minimum—a few wise, insightful, or salient words are as welcome as an essay (perhaps even as welcome as your recipes!) Submissions should include a title, the author’s name or pseudonym, and the author’s email address. Authors are free to submit up to three works of their own material, whether new and untested or previously shared in workshop.

By submitting your material, you affirm that EWW is free to edit, use, publish, and sell that material in the form of EWW’s choosing (provided that your material’s meaning is not altered), that you alone have the right to grant to EWW free and full permission to use, publish, and sell that material, that no other individuals or entities can claim any right or interest in the use, publication, or sale of that material, that EWW alone has the right to collect and benefit from the proceeds resulting from EWW’s use, publication, and sale of that material, and that you have no expectation of personal benefit or gain as a result of such proceeds.

Please submit all materials by email before 11:59 pm, March 16, 2013, to [address removed]. Submissions should be posted in the body of your email, not as attachments. If your material is selected for publication, you will be notified via the email address included with your submission. We look forward to receiving your work, and hope we can give you some of the recognition you’ve earned!
