With the Paris triathlon being a fantastic event, many are already looking forward to their next triathlon but don't want to wait until the end of August for Paris* especially if they want to do others such as HIM Antwerp on 25/July.
Since competing with friends is always more fun, I, as Directeur Sportif, am adding the Triathlon International d'Annecy on 4/July to the official calendar. (I am still searching for a local Olympic in May and June but waiting for dates to be announced.)
Registration isn't open yet but http://www.annecy-tri... is the URL.
If it is the same course as 2009, the swim is in the lake but finishes in a canal which makes a fast albeit cold swim. Unless global warming accelerates quickly, wetsuits will be required. The bike does have over 1000 meters of climbing over three cols with the first being the largest. Nonetheless, it should be scenic, due to the location, and, due to the downhills, great fun. The run is along the lake so is flat. Furthermore, last year's race started at 12:15 thus can even sleep late and have a good breakfast.
Annecy is near Geneva and has a TGV stop thus relatively easy to get to. There is an Ibis in the Centre Vieille Ville that is within walking distance from the start. Ibis has very generous cancellation policy i.e. can cancel as late as 18:00 on the day without a penalty. Consequently, even if you are remotely thinking about it, I would book the hotel now.
If there are enough people, we can even have a picnic after the race.
