EXPERTALKS: Nov 2013 - Why is my MongoDB slow ?

MongoDB is a hot trend these days...

Many start-ups and big companies have embraced MongoDB as their database solution. But there are few who might have had a bad experience with it being slow to respond to queries.

If you'd like to know why your Mongo is slow, come join us for a talk on effective indexing and schema design strategy for MongoDB.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

As an implementation partner of (MongoDB creators) 10gen, we at Equal Experts have been using MongoDB extensively for more than 2 years now...

Learning from our past mistakes.. and our experiences with it, we are now enabled to decide if MongoDB should be used for certain project scenarios or not.

MongoDB is not the solution for all database problems, but it can certainly be used to get lightning fast performance in many situations.

During the session we will analyse various situations in which MongoDB can be used along with indexing patterns which suit them. We will try to optimize indexes and queries to convert result times from minutes to milliseconds for millions of records !!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------

PRE-REQUISITES:

We are expecting basic understanding of JavaScript, JSON / BSON from the participants. We will probably avoid extensively covering basics of MongoDB in this session.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

PRESENTERS: Pradip Hudekar and Mrugen Deshmukh

Hearty congratulations to the presenters for the fantastic effort to deliver the talk! The attendees too deserve kudos from me for the lively participation in the discussions and asking questions freely. I was an outsider for the topic of the discussion yet I could get a fair idea of the services provided by the DB. It's a pity that due to some commitments I could not wait till a break and meet the guys. I found the idea of the informal meetings to be great and would try to contribute more!
