JOIN US FOR BICYCLING FROM WEST L.A. TO REDONDO BEACH
This 34 mile bike ride goes west on the Ballona Creek Bicycle Path from La Cienega and Jefferson Blvd. to Marina del Rey and turns south on the Marvin Braude Beach Bicycle Path to Redondo Beach. We invite all bike riders who are comfortable and experienced riding 34 miles round trip on the beach or other bicycle paths for up to 2 hours of bicycle riding at 12 miles per hour each way.
The bike path from West Los Angeles to Redondo is 17 miles one way and mostly flat but there are several up and down sections on the Ballona Creek Bike Trail going under bridges.
We will stop for lunch when we arrive at Redono Beach King Harbor.
MEETING PLACE AND TIME:
We will meet at the southwest corner of La Cienega and Jefferson Blvd. which is at a Metro stop on the Expo Line. We will depart promptly at 8:30 AM so please arrive by 8:00 AM to get ready to depart.
There is a parking structure there that has FREE PARKING. You can also ride the Metro with your bicycle, but please check the schedule to allow sufficient time by CLICKING HERE.
We will dine on super fresh live Clams, steamed to order with a garlic sauce at an outdoor fish market on Redondo Beach Pier! The anniversary special cost of the clams is just ... SIXTY CENTS PER POUND!!! You may also want to try live sea urchin (Uni) which cost $15 per pound.
We will arrive at the fish market a little before they open because with this special deal, it will undoubtedably be mobbed.
If you don't like clams or seafood there are other food options available.
RSVP: If your plans changed and you're not coming please change your RSVP to "No" so we are not expecting you.
SPARE TIRE TUBES: On the last ride two people had flat tires so please make sure you bring two spare tire tubes in case you get flat tires, and make sure your tires are properly inflated.
MONEY: A taxi charges plenty of money (up to $100) if you need one to pick you up and drive you back to your car if you have a flat tire and you don't have tubes to replace your flat tire. Also please bring suffient money to cover your lunch.
BIKE LOCK: Do not leave your bicycle unlocked at any time. Please bring your own bicycle lock.
HELMET: Also please be advised that you are required to wear a helmet to ride with our group.
WATER and FOOD: It's going to be hot so make sure you bring water to drink so you don't get dehydrated and a power bar to eat in case you get hungry.
RIDING SKILLS: Please be advised that the bike ride is 17 miles one way which is 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours of constant bike riding each way. You must be able to ride at least 12 miles per hour (a brisk pace) to keep up with our group or you will be on your own.

Please adhere to the following rules:
Always wear a helmet when riding a bicycle.
Make sure your bicycle is in good working condition with front and rear lights, tires properly inflated and the chain lubricated prior to the ride.
Bring food and power bars to eat and water to drink.
Bring spare tubes, a pump or CO2 cartriges, levers and a patch kit in case of a flat tire.
Learn and use standard hand signals for group rides.
