Another great app I just discovered... Waterlogue, makes beautiful watercolor-like images.

What a talented group of photographers! I couldn't make it to the meetup, but I'm enjoying seeing the results. It's always interesting to see how different photographers come up with different takes at the same location.

    • Evan

I love how creative everyone is also, and how we all posted such different photo's from this location.

  • Helen S.

Can anybody please tell me whether it's possible to send a picture directly from my iPhone to the album
. . . keeping in mind that I'm technologically challenged?

    June 19

  • Helen S.

Really enjoying the pictures y'all are posting. As I work with my first iPhone app, t'would be wonderful to know what you're using for your effects. . . . if they're not professional secrets.

This was a really fun meetup. I had a lot of fun photographing with my Iphone. So nice not to be taking flower pictures! It was great talking with new photographers and renewing past friends. Great day!

Really fun day, and a perfect location to try out different effects. Nice talking with everyone, trading tips, and meeting new people. Thanks again Jan for organizing this. And thanks GeorgAnna and Jeanne for the tip on the sunflowers. I found them on the way home.

Saw that there were more than I thought as we drove home! Couldn't stop this time, but we are going back. Karen, these are in the Pedrick exit area off Hwy. 80, on south side; east of Dixon. Fields & fields. Hope you got good pics, Steve.

      June 18

    • Steve G

Just East of Pedrick Road, along the frontage road, there is a branching road that has a big pull-out alongside the field.

What a fun & unusual location! And, a great place to practicing shoot with the iPhone &/or a smaller camera. As always, a great group of folks, too!

Finally! My third time attending an EP event and the first time I've actually met other members. All it took was asking the right people.

Anyone interested in carpooling from Sacramento? There are several options for lots where we could meet and leave a car/cars at, depending on where others are coming from.

Jan, I was talking to someone today and they said they were in a group that went to a shoot and did a scavenger hunt by you had to take a photo of the item and whoever got them all in photos won.. just a fun idea to try maybe sometime.

    June 17

  • Karen G.

wondering if i should cancel as i will only have a hour there. or are people staying longer tomorrow=?.

    June 17

    • Jan L.

You can stay as long as you like Karen. I don't know which side we will shooting on, I imagine both sides.

      June 17

    • Karen G.

thank you. will try to be there by 11:30 if all goes well.

      June 17

  • Melanie L.

Looks like my back problem won't allow me too make the shoot. Rats!!! I was looking forward to this one. I hope we will be able to go back here again in the future, as there are others who wanted to be there but can't also.

My favorite Android photo apps are Pixlr Express and Snapseed. I also use Add Watermark, Photo Grid and Square InstaPic. Any other Android phone apps people recommend?

    1 · June 17

  • Eric E.

Good apps all Jan. I would also recommend:
Layrs - Various filters, sharpening & blurring.
ColorSplash - Convert to B/W, then restore color selectively.

    June 17

  • Jan L.

Last chance to post some of your favorite apps before we meet tomorrow! Some of mine... Snapseed, Image Blender, Brushstroke, Painteresque, Diptic, Mosaic (makes iPhone books), Triggertrap (a plethora of cable release options, optional dongle required), SloPro (fun video) and Lapse It (time lapse).

So sorry Jan, I was looking forward to seeing you and learning a few new tricks. "Kids" coming into town unexpectedly.

Will miss catching up with you Hetta!

      June 16

  • Karen G.

Is this open to public daily?

    June 13

  • Michele M.

I may be switching my RSVP back and forth on this one, Jan - sorry! Looks like I'm booked for a commercial shoot that day (yay!), but sometimes those also change at the last moment. I'm just trying to take it all as it comes at me!

    June 15

    • Jan L.

No worries, thanks for the update, hope the shoot goes well!

      June 16

  • Stephen M.

Is the "NO tripods!" something Ohmega insists on, or is it more of an EP rule for just this Phonography event? I shoot pretty much all 3D (stereo) and near-perfectly level horizontal camera shift is crucial for proper vertical alignment. That's hard to achieve doing handheld single camera shifts. A small tripod with its legs only partially spread can have a pretty small footprint.

    June 16

    • Jan L.

Stephen, no problem, bring a tripod for your 3D camera.

      June 16

  • Melanie L.

I'm still hoping to go, but I've hurt my back and it's day to day right now

    Looks like fun

Lest anyone think cell phone photography is not for professionals, check out John Stanmeyer's photos for National Geographic. A number of these appeared in the magazine article as well, along with his more conventionally-shot stuff: http://proof.nationalgeographic.com/2014/06/13/john-stanmeyer-the-timeless-sands-of-saudi-arabia/

  • SALLY

Hi jan...this looks great. In addition, do you know of a place to get salvage iphones?

    May 6, 2014

    • Jan L.

I would check with the service provider you have for your cell phone. You can usually get a great price on an older generation iPhone with activation of new service. Or check the Apple website.

I wish i can join, but this is a weekday=work day, is this place open to the public on weekends?

    May 5, 2014

    • Jan L.

Yes, I'm sure you could go on a weekend, but it will be a lot busier. As long as you go on your own though, I'm sure it will be fine.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
