Photojournalism, fine art and equine mainly, but I enjoy some nature photography and other stuff as well.
Digital gear that's more dated than I would like.
Well, I noticed an equine shoot coming up which is what prompted me to join right now. Finding large groups of horses to photograph is not easy, at least not without paying a lot. So that interests me especially. I do a lot of hiking with groups but it's hard to stop and photograph without losing everyone, so doing some nature work with a group that's not in a hurry would be nice. Wildflowers on Mt. Diablo or Table Mountain. Places that are otherwise not accessible, like Sutter Buttes would be interesting.
I would say I like to look at things in a new or different way but always rooted in the traditions of photography. I tend to shoot photojournalism in a documentary style.
I have worked professionally in photography in one way or another since college. I went to Calif. College of Arts and Crafts, where I received a BFA in photography in '76. After working in the printing field for many years, I was a newspaper staffer in Woodland for seven years. I had an equine event photo business for a number of years and more lately have done some equine fine art/exhibition and freelance work. My website is www.sgphoto.net.
Hi, I'm Steve, from Sacramento. I've been a Meetup member since '08, mostly with hiking and music groups but have now joined a couple of photo groups. It's a great way to meet people with common interests and share skills and ideas.
