  • Friends, unfortunately we have to push the date for this meetup back by two weeks.  A big site migration at my company has been rescheduled to the same evening and I've got to be there.

New date: Wednesday May 8th at 7:00pm at the OR offices in SoDo.

I do have a theme for the evening: ExpressionEngine Performance!

Talk 1: Walk through several caching solutions and benchmark several for comparison.  Use of EE native caching and the CE Cache extension with several backends:  File, DB, Memcache, APC, Redis and also installing Varnish reverse-proxy cache in front of EE.  If you build anything more than a small billboard site on EE, then understanding how to make sites fly will be very beneficial to your business.

Talk 2: Still waiting on confirmation, but looks like we'll have a demo of a fantastic and comprehensive tool for performance monitoring.  Even if you are not in a heavily technical or sysadmin role, this is digestible information and exposure to a slick web UI.

    Thanks!

    Jimmy

Its time for another EE Meetup!  With Matt being a little busy these days I'll put together our next event.  My name is Jimmy Fursman and I am the Web Development Manager at Outdoor Research.  We're an outdoor apparel manufacturer that uses EE as a platform for several of our sites, as well as Magento for our E-Commerce platform.  You can reach me at [masked] with any ideas or feedback.

This event will take place at the Outdoor Research corporate offices at[masked]st Ave South in SoDo.  6th Floor Cafeteria is right off the elevator.

    Punch and Pie.

    [pizza & beer]

    Thanks!

This one sounds really great. Especially interested in learning more about Craft. So sorry I'm out of town that week. Oh well.

Thanks Jimmy! I will hopefully be able to attend, despite a new baby keeping me from planning :)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
